Dear Friend,
Julia and I send warm greetings in love to all the brethren. Thank you for standing for the truth that “was once delivered” to the Saints of God. I and the other speakers hope to concentrate on the basics of the Word of God in our messages and in our writings in the next few months. As we head into season of foolishness of this world’s pagan celebrations, we need to come closer to God and each other. The world concentrates on esoteric messages that sound good to the ear but do not provide that constant spiritual bread that keeps us strong in the Lord. As Paul, the Apostle of God, stated to the Corinthians, “that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God “1 Cor 2:5. The basics of the Bible are what keep us from drifting into a sleepy attitude about our calling from God. The foundation that we stand on is what God gives us––the Ten Commandments which comprise the basic definition of Godly love. “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome” 1 John 5:3
The basic of the basic is the love of God. Everything that we learn, everything we do is built on the love that God gives us and that we give back to the God Family. If we don’t have that foundation, we have nothing, and will not attain the goal. "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great." Luke 6:46-49
Because God is Love, we must act like Him to develop that Character He possesses. If He is love and we are imitating Him, then we first learn His true love and how we attain that, “We love Him because He first loved us. If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? “And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also” 1 John 4:19-21.
The Bible states emphatically that love is the ultimate characteristic of God; therefore, it should be of His children. “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor 13:13. Every teaching that takes place in the “Body of Christ” must have the foundation of the Love of God, not the definition of love as the world defines it, but the Bible definition. What we are to strive for is true love defined by the Word of God. That is our base.
In the service of Christ,
Ronald W. Laughland Pastor
